What is GPS?
The GPS (Global Positioning System) is a "constellation" of 24 well-spaced satellites that orbit the Earth and make it possible for people with ground receivers to pinpoint their geographic location. The location accuracy is anywhere from 1 to 100 meters depending on the type of equipment used.

GPS as attachment to the book
As the book contains many interesting sites in Paris (the quick trip) and 3 walks, we thought it useful for the reader to help them finding their way through Paris by supplying so called waypoints of the 3 walks and the quick trip. A waypoint is the latitude and longitude of a significant location. This information is useful to travelers who own GPS units

We supply waypoints in two ways, as general .txt file and as .mps file for Garmin GPS receivers.
All files follow the walkorder of the book. When you have downloaded these files and have put them in your GPS receiver, just follow the route.

In the following table you can download the files
Note : the coordinates used in these files are in the following format hddd°mm.mmm'.

The waypoints have been supplied by Paul Schreinemakers, initiator of the Dutch GPS newsgroup.

If you have additions or comments about the waypoints, please contact us.
